Assessment Boot Camp, sponsored by Student Life Studies is a professional development opportunity offered to all staff within the Texas A&M University Division of Student Affairs. It will cover the entire assessment cycle from understanding the assessment process to designing quality assessment instruments to understanding assessment results.
Assessment results help staff make decisions that are evidence based, improve the quality of programs and services, and measure student learning. This comprehensive program is designed for all staff in the Division regardless of the type of assessment you might be doing or want to do! Some of last year's participants shared their experience attending ABC:
- I felt that the Assessment Boot Camp was fun, interactive, and extremely informational. It made assessment seem not as scary and re-emphasized why we do it in the first place -- continuous improvement. Kudos to the Student Life Studies staff!
- I learned how to effectively write student learning outcomes, how to assess what methods I may want to use to measure those outcomes, and the different ways I can share the information that is uncovered as a result of assessment. Most valuable to me is how to share the data and looking at it from a larger perspective.
